Automotive Gauge Cluster

While watching a Formula 1 race i noticed the cars do not use a typical analog tachometer.  Instead, the cars have a series of LED lights to indicate the engine speed.  I was intrigued by the idea and was curious what a similar solution for a typical car could look like.  A typical car buying would demand a more elegant solution than plain LED bulbs stuck in front of them.  My solution was designed as a series of illuminated bars that would be a nice elegant detail when not lit and extremely functional as the engine revs.
